Welcome to Analect. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, VS Code extension, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using Analect, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Description of the Service
Analect provides an AI-powered semantic navigation and code abstraction platform that analyzes source code using abstract syntax trees (ASTs) and machine learning models to generate summaries, structure, and contextual insights.
The Service may include integrations with development environments, APIs, and third-party AI providers.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using Analect, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
3. User Accounts
You may be required to create an account to access certain features. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.
4. Subscriptions and Billing
4.1 Plans
Analect may offer subscription-based access, including:
- Individual monthly plans
- Free trial periods
- Enterprise or custom agreements
4.2 Billing
Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis unless canceled. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method accordingly.
4.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle unless otherwise stated.
4.4 Refunds
Payments are non-refundable except where required by law.
5. AI-Generated Output Disclaimer
The Service uses machine learning models to generate summaries and insights about code.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading
- Outputs may omit important context or introduce errors
- The Service does not guarantee correctness, security, or fitness for any particular purpose
You are solely responsible for reviewing and validating all outputs before using them in any development, production, or decision-making context.
6. User Content and Code
6.1 Ownership
You retain all rights, title, and interest in any code, data, or content you submit to the Service ("User Content").
6.2 License to Us
You grant Analect a limited, non-exclusive, temporary license to process User Content solely to provide and improve the Service.
6.3 Data Handling
We do not claim ownership of your code. We do not sell your code. Data may be processed by third-party providers strictly to enable functionality.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful or harmful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or exploit the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Use the Service to generate or assist in the development of malicious software
- Abuse rate limits or attempt to bypass safeguards
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on or integrate with third-party providers, including AI model providers, analytics tools, and payment processors.
Your use of those services may be subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
9. Service Availability and Changes
We may:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time
- Introduce new features or remove existing ones
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
10. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in the Service (excluding User Content) are owned by Analect and its licensors. This includes software, branding, and underlying technology.
You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without permission.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
Analect and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:
- Loss of data
- Loss of profits
- Software defects or failures
- Errors in AI-generated outputs
Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including:
- Merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
We do not warrant that the Service will meet your expectations or be error-free.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Analect from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your misuse of AI-generated outputs
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that could harm us or others.
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States of America, without regard to conflict of law principles.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
